Warren Edward Buffett was born in Omaha, Nebraska, to Leila and Howard Buffett, in 1930. He has two sisters. He finished his schooling in Washington DC and his teacher once remarked that he likes Math and will be a future stock broker. He wished to skip college and directly enter business but he did not agree with him. The book “One Thousand Ways to Make $1000” inspired him to start investing from a very young age. He started working from a very young age doing jobs like selling chewing gum, Coca-Cola bottles, dropping weekly magazines door to door, working at grandfather's grocery store, delivering newspapers, selling golf balls and stamps, and detailing cars, among other means. He filed his first income tax return at the age of 14 and also took a $35 deduction. At age of 11, he started investing in Stocks and made good money through it. At the age of 14, he bought 40 acre land with $1,200 of his savings. Buffett had $9,800 in savings by the time he finished his college. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Science in Economics.
Buffett worked at Buffett-Falk & Co. as an investment salesman from 1951 – 1954 and then at Graham-Newman Corp. as a securities analyst from 1954 – 1956. He was general partner at Buffett Partnership from 1956 to 1969 and from 1970 as Chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. While working full time he made many thoughtful investments which gave him very good returns.
Buffett was smitten with a young woman in 1949 whose boyfriend had a ukulele. To impress her, he bought one of the instruments and has been playing it ever since. He could not get her but his love for music grew. In 1952, Buffett married Susan Thompsonand together they had three children, Susie, Howard and Peter. 25 years later from 1977, they began living separately but remained married until Susan Buffett's death in July 2004. On his 76th birthday, Buffett married his longtime companion, Astrid Menks in 2006. Since his wife's departure to San Francisco in 1977, she had lived with him. All three had good understanding and lived peacefully.
